Francesca is a poet, a shaman, and a wonderful teacher!

A little over four years ago, I worked through the 15 weeks of lessons in Francesca's first book, Be a Goddess: A Guide to Celtic Spells and Wisdom for Self-Healing, Prosperity, and Great Sex, and found, to my great surprise and pleasure, that these lessons were fun, inspiring, and, most of all, life-transforming. The psychology was sound, the spirituality was amazing, and the teacher was warm and caring.
With the very positive experience I had working through Be a Goddess, I was very excited when Goddess Initiation was released. Designed to take a little more than a year to work through, Goddess Initiation has even more to offer than its predecessor. I didn't think that was possible!
Goddess Initiation is essentially a workbook to help you gain personal insights, remove your inner blocks to joy and healthy sexuality, and discover your own creative passion for living. A shamanic method of self-empowerment and spiritual growth, the tools in this book are valuable regardless of your gender, sexual preference, or cultural or religious background. Francesca says, "Mine is an interfaith Goddess, who is perfectly happy helping all people regardless of their religious beliefs or lack thereof."
Francesca is warm, intuitive, and truly magical! Francesca taught me a valuable lesson...

...don't judge a book by it's cover. Or title, for that matter. I grew up hearing this but it wasn't until I came across this book a number of years ago that I put it into practice. I admit I am a bit arrogant when it comes to my books and my spirituality. I originally looked this book over because of the cover, title, and tagline. I don't care much for Wicca, the New age, pretty much anything labeled "spirituality" in this context but for whatever reason this book intrigued me so a friend bought it for me as a gift. Not to be too cliche but it changed my life. Honest to God.
Backing up a bit to explain something that comes up with this book- the use of "Celtic spirituality", "Celtic shamanism", "Wicca", etc are all a bit stretched. I don't think that this was done on purpose but either way as with standard definitions of these terms they aren't exactly used in the same sense here. Meaning, this is not a Wiccan book in and of itself, there isn't much about it that is particularly Celtic or conventionally shamanistic. That's the problem with terms such as these. I suspect Francesca meant something very specific when she used these terms but for the rest of us we equate it with something other than what is presented in this book and Be A Goddess. Not so much what she is talking about. It's more than likely a matter of different understanding/word usage. I only bring this up because I have read and heard people complain about her terminology. I wanted to warn anyone new to these books right off that, yes, she uses these terms a bit differently. READ IT ANYWAY! Did I find that annoying? At first. Then I couldn't care less. I had to get over myself a lot while reading this book and putting it to use. That in itself was worth the money.
Francesca is unique. Really. I'm not just saying that. I have recently taken a few classes with her and though I knew before she was definitely different after speaking with her it's very clear. And I don't mean that in a bad way at all. What I am saying is that she approaches things very, well, *joyously*. For a serious pessimist like me I have found myself not quite knowing what to do with that but I have never found it unpleasant and certainly not artificial. Again with the having to get over myself in all of this. I never expected such deep emotional and mental work to come to me via a cheerful, whimsical person pushing faeries and playing the ukulele. I was a little taken aback but isn't it funny how these things work? So you're not getting a standard New Age/Neo Pagan/Wiccan/Spiritual/etc etc etc etc book or experience out of this. As a mater of fact I'm not sure I can describe what you get from this using existing terminology. That she calls this "Third Road" really speaks for itself once you have read about and experienced it. Francesca is a poet who isn't afraid of words and she likes to have fun. Don't confuse that with fluffy bunny. The work found in this book (and Be A Goddess) isn't anything to laugh at. It reaches deep. Of course you have to let it, but I am proof that it can.
I want to say it's been near 10 years since I first bought this book and I still use the tools I got from it (my copy is falling apart from all the use it gets). The beautiful thing is in that near 10 years I have been on a religious/spiritual roller-coaster trying to find exactly what I believe and the like. But her words, her tools, they have always remained relevant. That's saying something, I think.

The Proof is in the Pudding

This is my favorite book. While I have worked with both this book and BE A GODDESS, this is my favorite one. I love the prayers, and having worked through the book I find that it has brought me deep into the world of magic and the fey.
To find your way to feri you don't need (or usually get) a road map--what you need is an open mind and a proud, loving heart. Working with this book helped me to find my way to being both proud of who I am, and to being better able to love those around me.
My grandmother used to say "The proof is in the pudding." I never understood what she was talking about until tonight. Some of the other reviews of this book complained about details of language, or other such surface things. But that's like complaining about a recipe without ever having made it or eaten the food based on that recipe. Let me tell you, I read the recipe that is this book, I cooked the recipe using the rituals in this book, and I am DELIGHTED with how the results taste! the proof of how good this book is can be found in the success people have had who worked through it. The proof is in the pudding.
