About the Author
Alan B. Albarran is the chair of the Department of Radio, Television and Film, as well as the director of the Center for Spanish Language Media at the University of North Texas in Denton, TX. The author/editor of 12 books and former editor of two scholarly journals, Dr. Albarran is internationally recognized as one of the leading scholars in the field of media management and economics. He has presented workshops and seminars in 20 countries and also consults on the media industries. Dr. Albarran's awards include the Broadcast Education Association's Distinguished Scholar Award (2009) and the Journal of Media Economics Award of Honor (2008). He served as the president of the Broadcast Education Association and the Texas Association of Broadcast Educators.

Very user-friendly

This is the prescribed book for the Honours course I'm doing this year in my Media Studies degree. Although at first glance, one thinks that the book is rather thin for such a hefty price tag, it soon becomes evident that the author writes clearly and concisely, using everyday language and providing all the facts you need without superfluous words. I've always hated textbooks which are written from one professor to the other without taking into account that students need to be able to decipher them. Congratulations Mr Albarran for creating such a user-friendly and very interesting textbook!

Over-priced

The information in this $200 book is mainly common sense and common knowledge. What isn't common knowledge is either junk you would never actually use as a manager in the real world, or terms that you could just Google. I am very frustrated that my professor required us to purchase this book (we didn't even use it much). I've read about half of the book (well skimmed), and it's uninteresting and full of pointless information that you will only memorize for the test and then soon forget.

I suspect the other person who reviewed this book was probably the publisher by the way they were kissing you know what.

If possible, find a place to rent it (it's still expensive), borrow someone else's, or convince your professor to not waste his time or his students money on this hogwash.
